Town Budget Referendum

Polls open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

   All Referenda voting takes place in ONE polling place:

M. Wakeley Recreation Center gym, 7 Linsley Street

(Across from the North Haven Police Department Building)

Who may Vote in a Town Referendum?

You may vote in a referendum if you are a registered voter in North Haven.  However, if you are not a registered voter in North Haven, you MAY VOTE in REFERENDA if you meet all of the following conditions:  you own property in North Haven with an assessed value of at least $1000.00 on the latest Grand List, excluding any exemption; you must be at least 18 years of age, and you must be a United States citizen.  The current Grand List is as of October 1, 2017.  This means if you are not a registered voter, and you acquired property with an assessed value of at least $1000.00 after October 1, 2017, you are not eligible to vote in the May 15, 2018 Referendum.  In addition, you must own the property as an individual, not as a partnership or a corporation.  If you intend to vote off of the Grand List, the Registrars recommend, for a speedy verification process, you bring your most recent tax bill & a current form of ID with you to the polls.  In order to be registered to vote in May 15, 2018 Town Budget Referenda, your voter registration form must be received on or before May 14, 2018.

Referenda voting at the RECREATION CENTER on LINSLEY STREET:   
There is handicap parking in the semi-circle next to the entrance of the polling place.  Parking for electors is available, on the street, in the lot adjacent to the pool entrance, as well in the library lot.  Parking (thought limited to before and after town business hours) is also available behind the Town Annex.  You may request that a ballot be brought to you in your car or “curbside.’’

Absentee Ballots:

The Town Clerk is responsible for absentee ballots. Absentee ballot applications are available prior to any election from the Town Clerk (203-239-5321 ext. 630) You may also download an absentee ballot application by clicking on the Town Clerk’s webpage (on the town website, and clicking on “FORMS” or on the Secretary of State’s website:  www.sots.ct.gov and click on voter resources.  Once completed, send or bring the application to the Town Clerk at Town Hall, 18 Church St. North Haven, CT 06473.


Absentee ballots for the May 15, 2018 Town Budget Referendum will be available beginning Thursday, April 26, 2018.
