Voting held in ALL DISTRICTS - Polls open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

 

Who may vote in a Primary?  North Haven voters who are registered as a Republican or as a Democrat may vote in the August 14, 2018 Primaries.   In CT, you must be registered with a political party to vote in a party’s Primary.  If you are unsure of your party affiliation, you are encouraged to contact the Registrars of Voters Office. In CT, a change from one party to another party requires that the change be made 90 days (May 14, 2018) prior to when a Primary is held.

 

However, if you are unaffiliated with a political party and wish to register with a party in order to vote in a Primary, you may register by MAIL until August 9, 2018.  After August 9th, you may still register with a party IN-PERSON at either the Town Clerk’s office or the Registrars of Voters office in Town Hall until noon on Monday, August 13, 2018.

 

August 14, 2018 Democratic & Republican Primaries Important Dates:

 

Tuesday, July 31, 2018  12 noon – 2:00 p.m. ROV OFFICE, Town Hall  - Registration and enrollment session-The purpose of this session is to enroll those entitled to register to vote in North Haven: In accordance with Section 9-17 of the CT Election Laws, those entitled are:  North Haven residents, U. S. citizens, and 18 years of age.  However, if you are 17 years old and will be 18 years of age by the November 6, 2018 Election Day you may register to vote at this session and, providing you register with a party - you would be able to vote in the Tuesday, August 14, 2018 State, District and Municipal Democratic & Republican Primaries.

 

Thursday, August 9, 2018:  Mail-in voter registration deadline for the August 14, 2018 Primaries.  Mail-in voter registration cards must be postmarked by this date.  This is also the online voter registration deadline for new and unaffiliated people to register with a party. For UNAFFILIATED voters, the mail-in application must be received (not merely postmarked) by the Registrars of Voters by August 9th.  After 8/9, unaffiliated voters must appear in person to change party affiliation. 

 

Monday, August 13, 2018 12 Noon:  In-Person voter registration deadline and deadline for unaffiliated voter to change to party affiliation for the State, District & Muni Primaries. 

 

Absentee Ballots:  Absentee ballots will be available from the Town Clerk’s Office for the August 14, 2018 Primaries on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.

 

The Town Clerk is responsible for absentee ballots. Absentee ballot applications are available prior to any election at the Town Clerk’s office in Town Hall.  You may download an absentee ballot application from the Town Clerk’s webpage on the town website. The Gubernatorial Election will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018
