The Town of North Haven Department of Public Works is responsible for providing many of the services that residents come to rely on daily. The Department encompasses the offices of the Building Official, Engineering, Land Use Administration, and Zoning Enforcement. Additionally, the Department administers the Town’s wastewater collection and treatment program under the direction of the Water Pollution Control Authority.

Town of North Haven REVISED MS4 Stormwater Management Plan Available for Public Review and Comment

As required by the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (USEPA’s) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, Stormwater Phase II Rule, the Town of North Haven is required to renew its General Permit Registration for the Discharge of Stormwater from Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (known as MS4).  The purpose of the MS4 Stormwater Management Program is educate the public as to the importance of protecting stormwater, eliminating pollutant (bacteria, nitrogen and phosphorus) discharges and improving the overall quality of the State’s and Town’s waterbodies and receiving streams.

North Haven renewed its General Permit Registration with the State of Connecticut, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) on March 30, 2017.

Additionally, in compliance with the USEPA and CT DEEP requirements, the Town of North Haven has developed a revised draft MS4 Stormwater Management Plan and like the General Permit Registration, has filed this draft plan with the CT DEEP and has placed it on the Town’s website available at http://www.northhaven-ct.gov/document_center/PublicWorks/FINALNorthHavenStormwaterManagementPlan2017_03_30.pdf.

Per the USEPA and CT DEEP, the Town of North Haven hereby makes its Stormwater Management Plan (Plan) available for public review and comment at least ninety (90) days prior to the effective date of this general permit (July 1, 2017).  

Copies of the Stormwater Management Plan are available at the (1) Town of North Haven’s Department of Public Works, Town Hall Annex Building, 5 Linsley Street, North Haven, Connecticut,06473  and at the North Haven Library, 17 Elm Street, North Haven, Connecticut 06473 for public inspection and review consistent with the federal and state Freedom of Information Acts.  Members of the public may review the Plan and submit written comments on it to the Director, Department of Public Works, Town Hall Annex, 5 Linsley Street, North Haven, Connecticut 06473 or via electronic mail message to sadosky.lynn@town.north-haven.ct.us .
